Baringo County CEC for Education Clement Lomaringoria survived drowning on Thursday night (August 13) after his vehicle was submerged in flooded waters on the Marigat Chemolingot road.

The CEC was heading home from the county headquarters in Kabarnet, when the incident happened.

Lomaringoria attempted to pull aside after visibility was hampered by heavy rainfall, only for his car, a Toyota Prado, to be swept away by the floods.

His screams for help caught the attention of a resident, who rushed to the scene and rescued him from the vehicle, which was being swept into the deeper ends of the flood.

Local divers Friday morning managed to pull the CEC’s car out of the waters.

Lomaringoria has urged the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to barricade the road, saying it poses danger to users.
