Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has called on the international community to stop congratulating William Ruto before Supreme Court hears the petition challenging the presidential results.

Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga indicated that he shall challenge the results announced by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

Raila said Chebukati acted alone without involving a majority of IEBC commissioners.

"The figures announced by Chebukati are null and void and should be quashed by a court of law," Raila said during a press conference at KICC on Tuesday, August 16.

"We totally reject the results as announced by Chebukati yesterday. It is not up to us to determine if Chebukati committed illegality or not. It is up to the court to do so," he added.

Babu Owino tells outsiders to keep off Kenya's affair

Presidents Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Samia Suluhu of Tanzania, Paul Kagame of Rwanda are among the heads of state who congratulated Ruto before the Supreme Court determines the fate of the presidential election.

Babu Owino angrily reacted to the congratulations pouring in from the international community, warning that outsiders were meddling with the internal affairs of Kenya.

"I want to take this opportunity to warn the international media, to warn the observers and to warn some of the presidents in Africa who have taken their time to congratulate Ruto for having been 'elected'.

"I want to tell them and inform them that Kenya is a sovereign state, Kenya is an independent state with its sovereign powers, with its own rules and regulations, with its own laws and therefore they need to keep off.

"We don't need you to meddle and mingle with the affairs of Kenyans. Please keep off coz as things are we know that Raila Amolo Odinga is the President-elect. And every soon it shall be proven at the Supreme Court and it shall be proven on a balance of probability. Thank you," Babu Owino said on a video uploaded on social media.
