Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has been remanded until next Monday, January 27, 2020, when the court will receive the pre-bail application report.

Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi directed that the pre-bail report be filed in court within seven days by the probation officer.

The Chief Magistrate noted that the views of the victim have not been mentioned in the submission, saying that they are crucial in the bail application process.

The matter will be mentioned on January 27.

Babu pleaded not guilty to the two charges levelled against him; attempted murder and behaving in a disorderly manner while carrying a firearm.

The MP was arrested on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Nairobi Hospital where he had taken his victim for treatment.

His lawyer Cliff Ombeta cited his payment of the victim's Sh600,000 bill as proof that Babu Owino will not skip court if granted bail, which the prosecution has opposed.

Babu is accused of shooting DJ Evolve in the neck on Friday morning while at the B-Club, Kilimani area in Nairobi County.
