English Premier League rival teams, Manchester United and Arsenal, enjoy a huge following in Kenya, but it is not everyday their loyal and passionate fans congregate for a common cause.

But on Valentine's Day, Man Utd and Arsenal fans in Turkana Country put aside their differences for a good cause, to donate blood at the Lodwar Referral Hospital in Turkana County.

"This is a very important cause. We are donating blood to save the many people who need it especially now that we have so many people with Covid-19," said Turkana County Assembly Speaker Erastus Lokaale on Sunday during the mass blood-donating drive for the EPL teams' fans.

Speaking at mass blood-donation drive, Turkana Health Minister, Jane Ajele, urged National Government's Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe to equip the Lodwar Referral Hospital with the tools for testing the blood.

"I don't see why we should be transporting the blood from Lodwar to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for testing and classification," said Ajele.

Lodwar hospital's Medical Superintendent Gilchrist Lokoel said that the facility has suffered shortage of blood following rising cases of Covid-19.
