Nairobi County Deputy Governor Anne Kananu will be on Tuesday, November 16 sworn-in as the city's governor.

According to a gazette notice issued by Jarus Musumba, the ceremony will take place at the Kenyatta International Conventional Center (KICC) at 10 am.

"Pursuant to section 14 and 16 (1) (b) of the assumption of the Office of Governor Act, 2019, and in accordance with the provision of the general public that the swearing-in ceremony of Ms Ann Kananu Mwenda, was the Governor of Nairobi City County, shall take place on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the Kenyatta International Convention Center COMESA Grounds, starting 10 am" the notice read.

The notice comes days after Kananu wrote to the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary requesting a judge who will facilitate her swearing.

Kananu was sworn in as the Deputy Governor on January 15, 2021, and was thereafter scheduled to be sworn in as the governor according to the constitution.

However, Kananu’s swearing-in was challenged by her former county boss Mike Sonko through civil appeal No E228 of 2021.

On October 22, 2021, the Court of Appeal paved way for the swearing-in after it dismissed a petition filed by the former governor.
