Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Mogoha on Saturday, April 23 released the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, in a ceremony held at Mitihani House in Nairobi.
A total of 831,807 candidates sat for the exams which began on March 14 and ended on April 1, an exercise held in more than 10,000 examination centres.
Of the total students, 421,000 were male while 410,807 were female.

Notably, of the 47 counties in the country, 18 had more female candidates than male candidates including all the counties in the Central region: Murang'a, Kiambu, Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Nyandarua.
"All counties in Central Kenya have more females in the class," the CS noted.
Others were; Taita Taveta, Machakos, Kitui,Vihiga,Kakamega, Laikipia, Kisumu, Meru, Elgeyo Marakwet,Uasin Gishu and Tharaka Nithi.
The CS, in his address, termed the whole exams process as a success despite a handful of exam irregularity reports that emerged across the country.
This year, a total of 1138 candidates scored A plain. Of these, 349 were females while 789 were male.
