Two reservist officers have been injured and are receiving treatment in hospital after being shot by Al-Shabaab terrorists in Ola area, Mandera County.

The two were among officers patrolling the Lanqura area which was raided on Tuesday by Al-Shabaab.

This comes barely a week after two officers died after a bomb that had been set exploded.

This has led the local security operations in the area to be heightened ahead of the festive season.

According to the officers, the terrorists mainly target non-locals in the period around school holidays and the festive season.

“They usually target non-locals after schools are closed ahead of the festivities and there are fears of such attempts. We have moved more forces there,” an official noted.

On Monday, a case was reported where the terrorists attempted to abduct Muslims in a Wajir mosque.
