Agony as boy kills father over Form One fees in Nandi

Police in Nandi Hills station in Nandi County are holding a 17-year-old boy who allegedly murdered his father after a conflict over school fees

Vincent Chepkwony, a Standard 8 pupil who was set to join Form One differed with his parent who was allegedly not in a position to settle the required school fees for him to start his secondary education.

While confirming the incident, Nandi East Police Commander David Nyabuto said the 17-year boy murdered his 42-year-old father Stanley Cheokwiny after hitting him on the head using a club.

"There was a conflict between the two that led to a fight and the boy hit the father on the head using a rungu," Nyabuto said.

The bleeding father was rushed to Meteitei sub-county hospital in Tinderet for treatment before being referred to Kapsabet Referral Hospital where he succumbed.

"He was rushed to Meteitei sub-county hospital for first-aid before being transferred to Kapsabet hospital but he didn't survive," Nyabuto explained.

The student who hails from Kapkoros sub-location in Nandi remains in Police cells awaiting to be arraigned in court
