Police trailing 6 thugs caught on CCTV robbing Rongai woman at gunpoint

Police officers in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, have launched investigations into an incident where a woman nearly lost her life after an encounter with armed robbers in a chilling incident captured on CCTV cameras.

In CCTV footage seen by K24 Digital, the helpless woman was accosted by six thugs as she made her way into her compound in the wee hours of Sunday morning, June 12, 2022.

In the 2:20 am incident, two of the thugs are seen wielding pistols, another an AK-47 and the other a machete that he uses to break the window of the car the woman was in.

One of the thugs, who was wearing a balaclava, uses the pistol to break the driver’s window and pulls the woman out as the robbers begin ransacking the vehicle for valuables.

In the second video, a hooded thug is seen leading the woman inside her house before ransacking it.

One of the thugs is seen disconnecting a sound bar speaker as another walks out of another room.

Police in Rongai confirm

Confirming the Incident to K24 Digital, Ngong OCPD Mecha Mogeni said they have crucial leads on who the perpetrators were and an operation is ongoing to flush them out of their hideouts.

“We have launched investigations and we have very crucial leads on who the perpetrators are. Let us give them time so that we catch them up and use it as an example,” Mogeni said.

The police boss confirmed that the victim lost household items and other valuables of an unknown value. Nobody was injured during the horrifying incident.

“Various household items were stolen from the house but no injuries were reported,” he added.

Ongata Rongai residents have been complaining of a spike in robbery cases in the area even as police promise action against the notorious gangs.
