Six members of Kiritiri land board in Mbeere South Sub-county in Embu county have been arrested after allegedly receiving a 'treated' bribe from Ethics Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) officials.

The EACC officers were investigating allegations by some members of the public that there was massive corruption surrounding the board before pouncing on the suspects.

While confirming the incident Mbeere South Subcounty police commander Benjamin Bowen confirmed that the six men who were currently held at Kiritiri police station were being questioned by detectives.

"It is true that there were six men who were brought to the station after allegedly being involved in corruption cases. My officers from DCI are investigating the matter to find the truth," he said.

He promised to give more details later.

Members of the public who have been seeking services from the land board have in time been complaining that they were being forced to dig deep into their pockets to pay a certain amount of money to get services.

They have been calling the government to investigate the matter and bring to book the officers who were allegedly taking bribes.
