Five Wakali Kwanza gang members were on Wednesday evening shot dead in Mshomoroni area, where they had attacked residents shortly after returning from burying their colleague in Junda area.

The five were part of a 25-man group that terrorised residents of Junda and Milango Saba areas of Kisauni.

Kisauni Sub-County Police Commander, Julius Kiragu, told K24 Digital that the gang had slashed and injured at least ten residents of Milango Saba using machetes. The incident happened at 5:30pm.

“We are pursuing the remaining 20 gang members, who we believe escaped towards the shores of the Indian Ocean in Kisauni area,” said Kiragu.

Bodies of the killed gang members were taken to the Coast Provincial General Hospital morgue.

Residents of Mshomoroni continue to pile pressure on police to crack down on the gang, which, they claim, has been giving them sleepless nights for months now.

More soon.
