Four people were shot dead after storming into a police station in an attempt to rescue inmates locked up at Isebania Police Station in Migori.

According to a police report, the quartet invaded the station in a pick-up full of stones and machetes on the evening of Thursday, May 25, 2023.

Upon arrival at the station, the armed men destroyed the gates of the cells, broke down windows of the station armory, and other offices using stones.

Attempts by police to disperse them using tear gas and fire blanks went futile as they made their way to the cells.

They attacked the gates of the cells as they uniformly demanded that all suspects in custody are released.

Shoot to kill

At this point, police officers were forced to use live ammunition after the thugs attempted to release the inmates.

The four were shot dead and their bodies were moved to a nearby morgue.

"Unfortunately this resulted in the death of 4 unidentified goons," the police report reads in part.

Meanwhile, a police officer was left injured on the right eye while another sustained body injuries after he was subjected to a thorough beating by the thugs.
