34 million Kenyans watched the Deputy presidential debate held on Tuesday, July 19, a report by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) says.
The report released on Friday, July 22, indicates that out of the 34 million people who make up 82 percent of Kenyans, 70 per cent of the viewers watched the second round of the debate, which pitted Azimio la Umoja running mate Martha Karua against Kenya Kwanza's Rigathi Gachagua.
In the debate conducted in two tiers, 5 per cent watched the first debate pitting Roots party's running mate Justina Wamae and Agano's Ruth Mucheru, while 30 per cent of the viewers watched both debates.

"34 million Kenyans followed the recently held Presidential Debates organized by Media Council of Kenya, Media Owners Association and The Kenya Editors Guild and aired on all Kenyan radio and television stations and multiple online channels," the statement reads in parts.
MCK noted that the survey was conducted among Kenyans above 18 years from across all the counties.
The report comes as Kenyans eagerly waiting for the much-awaited presidential debate slated for Tuesday, July 26.
The debate will be held at the Catholic University of EasternAfrica (CUEA) in Karen, Nairobi, from 5 pm.
