Two suspects accused of stealing Ksh8 million from a safe have been arrested in Kinangop, Nyandarua County.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI), the two, Moses Cherish and Eliud Wangai were among three suspects who allegedly broke into the safe belonging to a Kiambu-based businessman that had been hidden at an abandoned pump station in Kinangop.

Detectives say the trio is believed to have gained entry into the building through the roof before running away with the cash.

"In the incident reported late last month by the businessman’s wife, the money was stolen from a safe hidden at the abandoned pump station located at Kinangop in Nyandarua County," part of the statement read.

Ksh2.5M recovered from suspects

So far, officers have recovered at least Ksh2.5 million.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the third suspect identified as David Mushendu who is still at large.

The suspects are facing charges of Stealing by servant contrary to Section 281 of the Penal Code.
