Police in Nairobi on Friday, October 29, shot dead three suspected robbers along the busy Mwiki- Githurai 45 road.
The incident took place in the wee hours of Friday morning and police say that one of the suspects managed to flee the scene.
In a police report seen by K24-Digital, the three allegedly stole a private vehicle in Kayole, Nairobi on Thursday night prompting the owner to alert the police.
“The owner of the car had informed the police that indeed his car had been stolen by unknown people from where he had parked it,” a police report read in part.
However, at around 3 am, hawk-eyed officers spotted the car along Mwiki- Githurai road and flagged it down but the occupants defied and sped off.
After defying the order, police officers chased after the car and an exchange of gunfire followed.
The officers recovered a homemade pistol but did not find any identification documents.
The bodies have since been taken to City Mortuary and registered as unidentified bodies.
Justus Ombati, the Ruiru Sub County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCIO) confirmed that the matter is under further investigation.
“Investigations into the matter have been launched and we are asking the owner of the car that was stolen in Kayole to record statement,” Ombati said.
