+254 cases in Kenya push COVID-19 infections past the 5, 000 mark

Kenya registered 254 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total case-load to 5, 206, Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi announced Wednesday.

The new infections were discovered in 4, 859 samples tested between Tuesday and Wednesday.

One hundred and eighty six (186) of the new patients are male, whereas 68 are female.

All the new cases were recorded among Kenyans, Dr. Mwangangi said while addressing journalists at Afya House in Nairobi.

With 127 cases, Nairobi led the regions that registered the new infections. Mombasa followed with 36 cases, Migori (29) and Kajiado, which posted 22 cases, rounded out the Top Four most-affected counties in Kenya.

Forty one (41) more COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals across the country, bringing to 1, 823 the total number of recoveries in Kenya.

Two more people succumbed to the disease, pushing the country’s death toll to 130, said Dr. Mwangangi.

Kenya has thus far tested 151, 396 samples for COVID-19.
