20 people have lost their lives while others remain injured after a matatu rammed into a lorry between Taru and Samburu area along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
Confirming the incident, Kwale county Police commander, Josephat Kinyua noted that the 15 passengers died on the spot while the other five succumbed to their injuries.
In the Friday incident, the lorry had moved aside to let a speeding vehicle pass, however, the matatu which had reportedly carried excess passengers lost control and rammed into the oncoming lorry.

Efforts to retrieve the bodies trapped inside the matatu are still ongoing.
"Our officers are at the scene, trying to retrieve bodies trapped inside the matatu as well as clear the scene, a few casualties have since been rushed to the hospital," Kinyua added.
