A 20-year-old househelp who is accused of stealing Ksh320,00 from her employer Anne Kanori, an OCS in Molo, has pleaded not guilty to theft charges pressed against her.

Agnes Karimi appeared before Molo principal magistrate Rhoda Yator where she denied stealing the said amount meant for cash bail.

The OCS is said to have gone with the amount at her house in the staff quarters because the police station was undergoing renovations.

Karimi is said to have stolen the money on May 27.

Molo Sub- County Police Commander Samuel Mukhusi on June 4, said the OCS was forced to move the money and crucial documents into her house due to the renovations.

“We had asked for support from area CDF to redo the station, which was dilapidated, and was in bad shape. The cash bail could not remain at the station as constructors did their work,” the police boss added

Magistrate Yator released the suspect on a Ksh500,000 bond and a surety of the same amount or an alternative cash bail of Ksh200,000.

The matter will be mentioned on June 18.
