Uasin Gishu: 2 arrested after Probox driver caught dumping dead body on road

Two suspects are in police custody after a body of a minor was found dumped on the road at Koilel village in Uasin Gishu County on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

The two, a man and his son, are being held at Kapsoya Police Station.

"It was reported by one Isaac Kibiwot of phone number 0722229307 village elder Koilel area sub- location lotonyok, Kaptagat Ward , MR 574640 about 4km East of the station that there was a vehicle registration no. KBQ 327W make probox white in colour dropped a body of a dead person besides the road.

"Officers from Kapsoya led by OCS and DCIO Eldoret East visited the scene and found the said unknown body of a juvenile approximately 12 years old lying dead beside the Koilel -Chepkoilel road with injuries at the back of the head and blood oozing from anus," a police report seen by K24 Digital read in part.

The vehicle used to dump the body was later recovered at the house of Solomon Kipsang arap Tarus

"The team also acting on information managed to recover the vehicle registration KBQ 327W parked at the residence of Solomon kipsang arap Tarus.

"The owner of the M/vehicle is the said Solomon Kipsang arap Tarus. On being questioned he alleged that his son one Eric Kiptoo Kipsang Keiyo male aged 22 years had asked for the car keys at about 0600hrs and went to collect milk from KCC.

"Police gained entry in the room where Eric Kiptoo Kipsang stays and assorted blood stained clothes, a blood stained pillow and a basin full of blood stains were recovered," police stated.

Body moved to MTRH mortuary

The search for the main suspect began and was later arrested while attempting to commit suicide.

"Be informed that the murder suspect namely Eric Kiptoo Kipsang was arrested by members of public led by village elder namely Henry Kiptoo and his son Joshua Kiptoo at Illula area near a dam trying to commit suicide.

"They brought him to Kapsoya Police Station and he was rearrested to answer charges of murder. The said person had deep and small right and left hands cuts respectively.

"He was handed over to DCI Eldoret East for further processing," police added.

The body of the deceased was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation.
