2 police officers ‘loot wire products from lorry involved in accident’

Police on Sunday night arrested two cops attached to Kambu post in Makueni County after they allegedly stole wire products from a truck that had been involved in an accident in Mtito-Andei.

According to DCI, the suspects, Dominic Wambua and Edward Osiyo, looted the wire material when the truck driver had gone to report the accident at Kambu Police Station; the suspects’ work station.

“Two police officers based at Kambu police post in Makueni were last night (Sunday, November 17) arrested by DCI Detectives alongside Four other civilians found Stealing Tarmal Wire Products from a truck after it veered off the road,” said the DCI on Twitter on Monday, November 18.

“The driver who had avoided ramming into other road-users, had gone to report the accident at the said-post, only to get back to the motor vehicle and find constables Dominic Wambua and Edward Osiyo standing watch as four men offloaded the goods to an Isuzu Pickup.

“DCI Detectives based at Mtito-Andei, who were patrolling the area, detected the crime, ambushed and arrested all the perpetrators. Both the officers and the other suspects; Pius Kimuyu, Pius Wambua, Wambua Ndege and Cosmas Kilonzo are in custody pending arraignment. Motor vehicles also detained for further police action,” said the DCI.
