Police in Kahawa Sukari, Kiambu County on Saturday, November 28 arrested 18 teenagers, who were celebrating the birthday of two of their friends.

The teenagers, police say, were binging on alcohol, when they were ambushed by the law enforcement officers.

The party was being held at the house of one of them.

The teenagers are aged between 16 and 18 years old, police said.

Ruiru deputy county commissioner, Geoffrey Githinji, said that besides illegally taking alcohol, the minors contravened COVID-19 anti-grouping rules.

“I urge parents to keenly watch over their children during this holiday month,” he said.

“We are actively pursuing the people who sold alcohol to the minors,” added Githinji.

The area administrator said the children, who were taken to Kahawa Sukari police post, will be handed over to their parents.
