Some 11 people from Narok County are quarantined as the government takes measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Seven of those are quarantined at the Maasai Mara Game Reserve while four are in isolation at the Narok County Referral Hospital.

Several facilities have since been shut down in the region with the Mara triangle remaining operational but under close supervision.

The Narok County administration in conjunction with the security team in Narok held a four-hour meeting on Wednesday at the county headquarters to deliberate on how a coronavirus response plan.

Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai said that one person who traveled back to the country from South Africa hails from the county and was among the 25 cases reported by the National Government on Tuesday.

He said no coronavirus case has been confirmed in the county.

Mr. Tunai said the man who travelled from South Africa is in quarantine with his son.

The son travelled by private car to TransMara where he made contact with his father.

Tunai said the two are in quarantine at the Mbagathi Hospital.

On Monday, a 50-year-old woman was forced into quarantine at Narok County Referral Hospital after mingling with members of the church.

The governor said all directives issued by national government on the closure of churches must be observed.

Tunai said that security personnel would be deployed to ensure that social interactions are cut.

Narok County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti said that four more people were quarantined after making contact with the woman who was forced into isolation on Monday.

Kimiti maintained that defiant traders would be held accountable for their actions adding that the security officers have been directed to implement government directives.
