Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has been summoned by the Commission for University Education (CUE) on Monday, June 20, in a new quest to ascertain the authenticity of his Team University degree certificate acquired in 2016.

While this new twist is raising questions, stoking suspicions and, quite possibly, fueling rumours, CUE’s chairman Professor Chacha Nyaigoti has assured the public of a fair hearing adding that the commission will not be intimidated by politicians or external factors.

He said the commission is looking to determine if Sakaja studied at the said institution and how he acquired his degree certificate in 2016.

Chacha noted that the new move has been occasioned by numerous complaints forcing them to call for more investigations.

"We wish to inform the public on June 6, 2022, the Hon. Senator of Nairobi County; Mr Johnson Arthur Sakaja applied for recognition of his foreign degree qualification (same-day service).

"The Senator submitted the documents in accordance with the Standards for Recognition and Equation of qualifications. On the same day 6th June 2022, the Commission wrote to National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) Uganda," the statement by the commission read.

Chacha noted that they wrote to Team University in Uganda to confirm whether the University was duly accredited and recognized in Uganda and if the Bachelor of Science in Management (External) was also accredited.

Also, they sought to find out if Sakaja was admitted to the said institution, pursued the said studies, and was awarded the requisite degree certificate.
