Television personality Linda Oguttu on Thursday said that she had tested positive for COVID-19.

In a tweet, Oguttu described the disease which has claimed thousands of Kenyans as very scary.

“Just tested positive for Covid-19 and let me tell you, the fever this thing comes with is crazy. Smell, taste onge. Tilapia from Yurop tastes like sponge (abomination). Mwili yote nauma. You people send kaluma, rob, soup etc. Naumia. But seriously guys, mask up, sanitize,” read the tweet.

Oguttu is not the only journalist who has tested positive for the virus since its discovery.

Others who have previously tested positive for the virus include Jeff Koinange, Stephen Letoo, Ian Wafula, Bonnie Musambi, Moina Spooner and Miss Katiwa.

Kenya is currently experiencing the fourth wave of the disease with Delta variant being dominant.

Releasing the number of people who have been affected on Wednesday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that a total of 1,006 people had tested positive for the virus. He also said that a total of 13 people had died of the deadly virus.

The number saw an increase of the number of those who have tested positive in Kenya to 199,941.

Kagwe in the statement asked county governments to ensure that they have sufficient Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and oxygen to deal with the new cases.

He said that there was a demand for ICU beds which is an automatic demand for more oxygen.
