Former President Mwai Kibaki took his last breath today. He served as Kenya’s president from December 2002 to April 2013.

That said, we are coming off many years with Mwai Kibaki, who is arguably one of history's most likeable presidents, and definitely one of the funniest.

Whether you agree with his politics or not, Kibaki gave us some of the finest comedy from the State House.

He's been praised by Kenyans for his delivery, and people referred to him as the first alt-comedy president.

He will be remembered for some of the humorous quotes that he ever said. Below are some of the funny moments.

Kibaki on family planning (2010)

President Kibaki was among those who were at the forefront to talk about the importance of family planning. He wondered how some Kenyans go about their daily lives without planning. A famous statement he said was;

"Sio lazima kila siku ya pili ya tatu eti lazima uproduce mtoto. What the hell? Hapana, hiyo ni kukosa adabu."

Kibaki on presidential escort (2005)

The late president was giving a speech on a cloudy day when he noticed that his escort was leaving. Probably, the driver was moving to a different place to cover himself from the rain. Best believe, Kibaki interrupted his speech and transferred all the attention to his escort saying.

"Hata gari yangu inatoroka yeye bure. Mwambie arudi nyuma, ni kumbafu kabisa."

Kibaki on teacher’s discipline (2006)

It seems like the late president was not a fan of alcohol. Not once or twice, he was heard condemning those who use alcohol.

He will be remembered for talking about teachers’ discipline in 2006 by saying that students were being let down as they were being taught by drunk teachers.

"You are letting us down by allowing some teachers to drink too much, Oh yes. When we see so many drunkard teachers in so many schools, I am telling you you are educating the entire nation with a mistake."

Kibaki isn’t just one of the coolest presidents Kenya ever had, he’s also one of the funniest.

Okay so maybe his one-liners were a bit middle-aged and definitely relied heavily on a lot of political in-jokes, but compared to the current president in office, Kibaki had us laughing. Intentionally.

Just like actress Katherine Kamau once said, Tungependa Kibaki abaki, but sadly, life happens. Rest in Peace, you were awesome!
