Ugandan entrepreneur Zari Hassan has called out Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko over allegations that the mother-of-five is love-struck by the county chief.
Kenyan blogs were recently awash with quotes attributed to Zari, alleging that she professed her undying love for the Nairobi city boss.
Zari is said to have disclosed her interest in Sonko to a South African radio station.

“I want to reveal my love for the handsome Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko. He is the man I have secretly admired for a long time. I love this handsome governor because he is a man of impeccable character and passionate convictions. He is not as boyish as the other kid who has been chasing me around,” Zari is quoted to have said.
A quick search online shows the quotes originated from a Kenyan blog of questionable credibility.
And on Wednesday, July 17, Zari Hassan took to Twitter to suggest that the confession attributed to her was fabricated.
“This nonsense from this man should stop. No, I do not have any crush on you [Sonko]. I have never met you or anything. Please, let me be. You are not my type, governor. Thank you,” said Zari Hassan on her Insta Story feature.
Recently, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko took to his Instagram page to claim that a section of Kenyans are fond of using his name to spark a gossip agenda.
“You’ll hear them saying that I am interested in Zari Hassan, others would claim I am pursuing Reverend Lucy Natasha. As politicians, we are often targeted by character assassins,” said Sonko.
