Kenyan gospel musician Bahati says he charges at least Ksh700, 000 to perform for 18 to 25 minutes.

Speaking to Betty Kyallo on K24 Television on Friday, August 30, Bahati said he has worked hard to build his brand over the years, and, therefore, he sees nothing shocking in his rate card.

“If one wants to hire me, he or she should be armed with Ksh700, 000 for an 18 to 25 minutes performance,” Bahati told the host on Up-Close with Betty.

If given the Ksh700, 000 for an 18-minute show, it means the gospel act takes home Ksh38, 889 per minute, or Ksh648 per second. If given the Ksh700K for a 25-minute show, it means the musician pockets Ksh28, 000 per minute, or Ksh467 per second.

Bahati, who plunged into the hall of fame with his hit song Mama in May 2013, has tens of songs to his name.

He is a gifted artiste, no doubt. The question, however, is: ‘Can you afford him’?

The musician is among the few artistes in East Africa, who have openly revealed their rate cards.

Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz last December said he doesn’t take home anything less than Ksh7 million per performance.

Kenya’s Akothee told K24 Digital that she must be paid at least Ksh1.5 million in one show.
