Police have arrested three more suspects involved in the brutal murder of LGBTQ activist Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo alias Chiloba.

The three who are currently in police custody were arrested for carrying the metal box used to dispose of the body of the deceased.

Police spokeswoman Resla Onyango said the suspects were under 18 years of age. She also confirmed that detectives had recovered the car used in dumping the body of the deceased.

The arrest of the minors brings the total number of suspects to four after the main suspect was arrested in Eldoret town on Friday, January 6, 2023.

Prime suspect Jacktone Odhiambo confessed to police that he killed the deceased after finding out that he had another partner.

Odhiambo had been living with Chiloba for a period of one year in Eldoret.

Police said they established that Odhiambo and Chiloba lived together as 'husband and wife'.

Chiloba’s caretaker Alex Nyamwea told officers that Odhiambo called him on the deceased's phone on January 4, 2023, informing him that he was vacating their house.

Prior to his death, Odhiambo and Chiloba were spotted having fun at a popular club on the outskirts of Eldoret town on January 1, 2023, as they ushered in the New Year.

"They left the club at around 3:00 am and headed to where they lived. When they arrived at the house, the neighbours said they heard some commotion which subsided after a while," Police said.

Police established that duo left the club at around 3:00 am and headed to where they lived. When they arrived at the house, the neighbours said they heard some commotion which subsided after a while.

Neighbours claimed that they did not follow up on the cause of the commotion. They, however, told police that they spotted two people loading a metal box into a vehicle whose registration number was concealed and left.

Chiloba's lifeless body was found stuffed inside a metallic box along Kipenyo- Katinga Road in Uasin Gishu County.

Boda boda riders said that they saw a vehicle, whose registration number was concealed, dump the box along the road and they alerted the police.
