Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has poured his heart out to his wife Primrose as she turns a year older.

In a heartwarming birthday message shared on social media on New Year's eve, the outspoken politician said his wife has been a great pillar in his life and he feels blessed to have her as a partner.

Sonko appreciated Primrose for sticking with him during his "difficult days and trying moments" and wished her happiness and true love "always".

"I'm so much blessed to have you as my life partner, such a beautiful, understanding and encouraging wife. I wish you real happiness & true love on your birthday, & always! Honey, no words in my dictionary can convey my feelings for you," Sonko wrote.

"Your fingerprints in my life will never fade away. I will never forget how you stood with me during my difficult days and trying moments wengine huwacha mabwana zao na kuhepa (some dump their husbands and run away) but you proved to me that you are a strong woman who didn't value power and material things," he said adding that he love her so much.

Sonko treated his wife to a lavish party on the Kenyan coast. In attendance were his children, close family members and friends.

In a video shared online, the love birds are seen cutting a cake before taking turns to have a bite as Jay Melody's hit song "Nakupenda" plays in the background.

Netizens couldn't help but admire the couple's love for each other and wished them well in the new year.

"Happiest birthday to her. Whoever finds a good wife and God-fearing one find a good life. Blessed 2023 And good health," Sammy Waki said in a tweet.

"May your family never lack bro. You're an epitome of philanthropy. You have a big heart," Abuga Makori wrote.
