Mike Sonko's high-end club in Mombasa has come under scrutiny for allegedly not paying employees for the past three months.

The former Nairobi governor opened the upscale nightclub in Mombasa early this year to target rich revellers in the coastal city.

Sonko's club has however been exposed by blogger Robert Alai who claims an employee at the entertainment joint confided in him how workers are being frustrated.

Alai while quoting his source claimed that employees at Sonko's club had gone for three months without being paid.

The source also alleged that workers' salaries had been reduced from Ksh20,000 to Ksh14,000 a month while they were also required to work a 12-hour shift a day.

"Hello Robert Alai. Kindly tell the conman called Sonko to pay his workers at Club Volume Shanzu. Three months now there is no salary. In fact, he reduced the salary from 20K to 14K. He added working hours from 8 am to 5 pm, to force every one work from 6 am to 6 pm and 6 pm to 6 am," Robert Alai shared.

The former Nairobi governor angrily hit out at Alai for exposing his club. He strongly refuted the allegation noting that clubs don't even operate during the day.

"Wewe mak*nde ya fisi go brush your teeth kwanza. There's no night club that operates during the day ati from 6 am to 6 pm. Nugu wewe. (Go brush your teeth first. There are no night clubs that operate during the from 6 am to 6 pm)," Sonko angrily responded to Alai.

The controversial blogger picked up a fight with Sonko again claiming that the former governor couldn't help sickly boxer Conjestina Achieng because he is allegedly a drug peddler.

Sonko offered to help Conjestina after her photo went viral on social media raising concerns about her health.

"Sonko can’t help Conjestina because he is a drug peddler. For Conjestina to heal, she must stay away from drug peddlers to be fully treated. Sonko is a very negative influence on Conjestina’s life. Someone who sells drugs and has these idle drug peddlers around him can’t be a source of treatment for someone whose life has been negatively affected by drugs.

"Sonko uses Conjestina to clean his profile but Conjestina suffers from years of drug abuse. Omiyo the government must isolate Conjestina from Sonko. Otherwise we are pretending," Alai wrote.
