Kikuyu award-winning gospel singer Shiru wa-GP has opened up about her husband's illegitimate child.

Shiru has been candid about her moving story on the difficulties she had in conceiving and the loss she suffered before finally achieving her dream of becoming a mother.

Speaking in an interview on Kameme FM, Shiru says her husband impregnated a church girl after they tried to conceive for nine years.

By this time, Shiru had blown up with her music career and had become a household name in the industry but she says she still did not feel complete since she did not have a child.

"The pressure led to my husband impregnating our church mate. While the girl was five months pregnant, I conceived with twins and I was so excited," she noted.

The celebrated artist says she has accepted the child and her family is still intact.

She further stated that she spent millions of money to treat her 'infertility' but it was not until nine years into her marriage that she finally conceived with twins in 2014.

Shiru suffered another major setback since she gave birth prematurely to her twins- a boy and a girl.

The babies who were born at seven months led to their hospital admission at Nairobi women’s hospital with the bill rising to a staggering Ksh4.5 million.

This compelled close friends and family to call for a fundraiser and the event was organised by former Kameme radio presenter Njogu wa Njoroge.

It caught the attention of President Uhuru Kenyatta who donated Ksh 1 million and the bill was cleared.

Unfortunately, her son passed away after contracting TB but her daughter Wambui bounced back and is now enrolled in school.
