Renowned gospel artist Alex Apoko alias Ringtone, on Monday, July 4, 2022, hinted at his retirement from gospel music.

The controversial artiste, who did not divulge further details, took to his official Instagram account and announced that he had quit the industry.

While apologizing to his fans for the decision, Apoko vowed to explain why he was exiting.

"I have quit gospel music. Sorry to my fans, I will post my reasons tomorrow(Tuesday, July 5)," Apoko wrote.

However, a section of fans slammed the artiste for what they termed 'clout chasing.' Some also noted that he used the announcement as a campaign strategy for his unreleased song.

Ringtone will be joining other Kenyan artistes such as Bahati, Willy Paul, Jimmy Gait, Wheezman, and Havoc, who also exited the gospel industry on different occasions.
