Coast-based evangelist pastor Ezekiel Odera of New Life Church has been in the spotlight recently for pulling a large crowd to Kasarani — a feat that has only been accomplished by seasoned politicians —during his crusade on Sunday, November 27, 2022.

In a recent interview with a local TV station, Pastor Ezekiel explained the price he has to pay to lead his church which, he says, sits on six and a half acres of land and gathers at least 45,000 local and international congregants every week.

He said most of the congregants come from Nairobi and Tanzania and very few are from the coast region.

"Washirika wengi sana wanatoka Nairobi, Tanzania na labda Amerika and all over the world but very few are from coast," he said.

Further, the man of the cloth revealed that he often preaches from morning to evening which forces him to skip both breakfast and lunch.

According to the preacher, his summons start at 9:30 AM and closes at 7:00 PM and all this time, he stands at the pulpit to preach and perform miracles.

Ezekiel said it is painful that he misses family time but he has to do it regardless.

"In my life, nikuona watu wanaokoka na wanapona.. napenda sana. Watoto wangu kupata time na mimi ni ngumu. It is painful but that's the price I can pay to preach from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm. I also don't take tea or lunch. If you see me take tea, it's probably because I am breaking a fast," Pastor Ezekiel added.

Speaking on how he was able to fill Kasarani stadium, Pastor Ezekiel typically noted that it is beyond his powers and only Jesus did it for him

"I did not fill the stadium, I can't pull such a crowd.. it is impossible. No humans can only Jesus can do it. Those people came to witness God," he noted.

On his background, he said he was born and raised in a humble family in Homabay county and is a campus dropout. After dropping out he resorted to fishing before dedicating his life to serving God.

Pastor Ezekiel's church is situated at Mavueni a few kilometres from Kilifi town.
