A young male musician from Tanzania is receiving backlash on social media after he asked his manager to lie that he was dead.

The manager of the up-and-coming artiste -- known as Meja Kunta -- on Sunday, February 2, announced Kunta’s death, saying the entertainer succumbed to his injuries after being involved in a grisly car crash while heading to Tanga.

Kunta, however, took to Instagram the following day to dismiss as fake reports which were suggesting he was dead.

Some of the singer’s followers accused the musician of engaging in “stupid publicity stunts” to promote his brand and music.
