Papa Shirandula actress Mama Nyaguthii says she is lucky to be alive having cheated death 29 years ago.

Mama Nyaguthii while celebrating her birthday narrated how she had a brush with death in 1994.

She noted that if someone back then told her that she would be alive to celebrate her birthday in 2023 she would have called them liars.

The actress added that she never thought she could make it past December 1994.

"In 1994 if someone told me I would live to see this day I would have considered them a liar😃😃. I was critically ill that I never thought that even the month of December of that year would get me alive🙆," Mama Nyaguthii wrote in part.

The Papa Shirandula actress said she was quite sick in 1994 and that her parents took her to several hospitals but her condition did not improve.

"My parents took me to all hospitals both high-end and middle-level but it never got any better😭😭😭. They exhausted all their savings but the situation remained the same," she added.

Mama Nyaguthii further stressed that her headling was purely the work of God.

"I however look back and see the hands of the most high. 29 years later I'm alive, healthy and happy. And today He has added me another year😊. As I start this new year, I give gratitude God, to my family, friends, colleagues and to you my friends here who have made my life beautiful. A happy blessed birthday it is💃💃💃," she wrote.

Papa Shirandula show

On Papa Shirandula TV show, Mama Nyaguthii played a tough landlady who walked with a limp and had a deep Gikuyu accent.

She made viewers believe so many things about her that are not true in real life.

Mama Nyaguthii is so good at acting that she created a perception that her TV character is actually her in real life - many people believed she is Kikuyu while in reality she is Luo.

The actress, whose real name is Mary Airo Adhiambo, got the deep Gikuyu accent from Kikuyus she interacted with while growing up in Kangemi.

Mama Nyaguthii learnt the Gikuyu language as a kid and mastered the deep accent which came in handy in her role on Papa Shirandula show.

Her character also created the impression that she is an academic dwarf but Mama Nyaguthii is actually a paralegal by profession.

Paralegals are trained in basic law and in skills like mediation, organizing, education, and advocacy.

Mama Nyaguthii practice mostly in prisons where she helps inmates who cannot afford the services of lawyers. She gives them free legal education especially during the trial process so that they can self-represent themselves.

Mama Nyaguthii was at Langata Women’s Prison doing her legal clinics to the remand inmates in 2007 when Charles Bukeko (Papa Shirandula) called and offered her a role in the TV show.
