Kenyan-born rapper features in Kanye West’s new album

Mark Mbogo, a Kenya-born rapper based in the US has featured in Kanye West’s new album titled Donda.

Mbogo, who is popularly known as KayCyy Pluto was featured on song number 16 titled Keep My Spirit Alive alongside two other artists namely Westside Gunn and Conway the Machine.

Currently, the album has been praised as one of the most promising ever done by Kanye West who is also a music production.

The album has been recommended by other artists who include Shawn Carter, Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, DaBaby among others.

Mbogo in a past interview with a US based magazine known as Complex said that he met with the celebrated American rapper in Los Angeles.

He revealed that he was linked to him by the help of American singer Akon’s brother “Bu” Thiam.

The two have been friends since they met in Log Angeles and when Mbogo got a chance, he could not spare it at any cost.

“We stayed for more than a year and a half without seeing each other but recently we caught up and something happened,” he said.

Mbogo moved to the US when he was 10 years together with his family but has been a lover of rap and always made efforts to follow his dreams.

They moved to Minnesota and later settled in New York and he says that the Swahili culture has influenced his ability to diversify his music career.

“It (Kenyan culture) shaped me a lot. That culture is important to me. I still speak Swahili, and other languages, so that definitely shaped me to know more.

“Without knowing the languages and being tapped into my roots, I probably wouldn’t make such diverse music,” he stated.
