Media personality Kamene Goro has denied reports circulating on social media that she was fired from her radio job at Kiss FM.

Kamene exited the Radio Africa-owned station on Friday, January 27, after a three-and-half-year stint at the station.

Reacting to the claims that she had been relieved of her duties over absenteeism, the sassy radio presenter said she parted ways with her employer because her contract had expired and "there was no need to renew it".

"No, I was not fired. My contract was up by the end of this month (January) and there was no need to move forward with it... No beef with anyone," Kamene Goro said in an interview shortly after her last breakfast show.

Kamene also rubbished reports that she has been reporting to work drunk saying, “Last year, I was sick and had to miss work, but you can’t plan sickness, it just happens. And, let’s be real, I never come to work intoxicated or under the influence of (alcohol), that’s impossible. You can't run the desk while drunk.”

She hinted at trying self-employment, revealing that the exit of her former co-host Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o made her rethink her media career.

“Jalang’o leaving made me think about self-employment and taking a leap of faith to see what I can do on my own. I’m excited, employment can make you comfortable sometimes," she said adding that early morning wake-up calls for the morning show were challenging.

There were speculations that Kamene had fallen out with her bosses for allegedly absconding duty on flimsy grounds as well as low ratings.

Kamene, who has been replaced by former Vybez Radio presenter Sheila Kwamboka a.k.a Kwambox, joined Radio Africa alongside content creator Andrew Kibe in June 2019 after being poached from NRG radio.

Kibe left Kiss FM a year later to pursue other interests.

He was replaced by Jalang'o, who quit the station in February last year to contest for Lang'ata parliamentary seat.

Kamene has been hosting the breakfast show alongside comedian Thomson Maghana alias Oga Obinna.
