Former Tusker Project Fame judge Ian Mbugua has come out to explain why educated women cannot sustain romantic relationships.

Speaking to a local TV station, Ian noted that most empowered and educated women have forgotten about basic principles of being a woman in the society hence can't sustain relationships.

According to him, a woman who understands her role in the society should not have a problem being in a relationship.

"Just because she is really educated, does not mean she loses her place as a woman, as a helper. If she still realizes and understands her role, then there should not be a problem," Ian said.

The controversial judge was responding to claims that a woman is more likely to end a relationship or divorce if she is empowered and educated.

Contributing to the claim, media personality Kalekye Mumo said that she has found it difficult to be in a relationship because she is empowered.

According to her, it is the society that has formed a negative notion about empowered women that men fear.

"As an empowered woman, as a woman who has worked hard, as a woman who has been seen doing many things, it has been difficult for me to date. I am still single because there is that notion that you are now a woman who cannot listen, will not help me," Kalekye said.

Kalekye urged the society to instead view an empowered woman as a helper.
