Jemimah Ndegwa, the wife of the incoming Safaricom CEO, Peter Ndegwa, has taken to her Facebook page to congratulate her husband on his lucrative appointment.

Jemimah, who shares a 10-year-old son with Ndegwa, said her spouse’s appointment to Safaricom’s top job did not come as a surprise to her, given she has witnessed – firsthand -- her husband’s determination and work ethic.

“My dear, you always tell me that there is no short-cut to ‘real’ and ‘lasting’ success. Your appointment is proof that hard-work, commitment and integrity pay off,” she said on Facebook on Thursday, October 24.

“I have experienced first-hand the long hours and your commitment to self and others to achieve great things. You have taken risks – going to challenging markets but the experience you have gained, sets you apart.

“I know, just as has been the case, integrity and humility will continue to be your trademark in this new role. We, your family, will continue to support you and pray for you. For exaltation does not come from the East, the West or the South, but from God.”

In a past interview with the Business Daily, Ndegwa said his family pushes him to shatter the glass ceiling, and that he ensures he travels with them to the countries he is posted to in the line of duty.

Ndegwa has worked in top firms in London-UK, Lagos-Nigeria among other locations.

His appointment takes effect in April 2020.
