Barely a year after promising to fund comedian Jalang'o's political campaign, radio presenter Maina Kageni now seems to be reconsidering his promise.

This is after he revealed that he will not contribute a single cent to any political contestant ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Speaking during his radio morning show, Maina said that it is a lie for anyone to think that he would make such contributions.

"I cannot give anyone Ksh5 to go and stand for an election, it is a lie. And you know I have got colleagues here (at the media house) who are going for elective seats," Maina said.

Adding:" I swear if you are standing for an elective post, I don't care who you are, don't come to me."

In May last year at an interview with Jalang'o, the award-winning radio presenter promised the latter not only to fund his bid to clinch the Lang'ata parliamentary seat but also to attend some of his rallies.

“I will give you money and I will be at your rallies because I'm not at the beck and call of some party leader,” Maina told Jalang'o.

It then seems that Maina has changed his mind and has withdrawn the support he promised the fellow radio presenter.

Maina, however, noted that he can only support his co-host Daniel Ndambuki commonly known as Mwalimu King'ag'i or Churchill. According to him, he would only do that to him out of respect and nothing more.

"If you (Churchill) stand for an elective seat, just out of respect I will give you Ksh5000," he said.

Maina, however, remained open to supporting a political leader only once he clinches a political seat by providing him or her with a conducive environment to deliver to the people.
