Diana Marua, the wife of Kenyan gospel artiste Bahati, says good personal hygiene is something women should always embrace before engaging in intimacy with their spouses.

In a recent video posted to her YouTube channel, Marua listed several factors, she believes, play important roles in the success of a relationship.

Submission, respect, being understanding and fearing God are among the values she emphasised most.

She also noted that good personal hygiene would determine how a couple’s sex life pans out. The mother-of-two suggested that a healthy sex life would increase chances of couples enjoying the relationship.

“Bedroom matters are very important…,” she said.

“[Women], don’t just hop to bed and lie there like a log. Once in a while, light some candles, put some [flower] petals on the bed, wear lingerie, [ensure that before you get intimate], you take a shower, smell good… and, submit,” added Marua, who was responding to questions posed to her by her fans.

Marua advised women to always let men be the heads of their families, as they play the home-maker role.

“I am married to Bahati, who is younger than me by three years. That, however, does not make me the head of the house simply because I am the elder one. I respect the fact that he is the head of the family because he is my husband. Submission is key to every relationship; once you become a submissive wife, everything [will work out for you],” she said.

The mother-of-two also spoke about how she deals with the fact that Bahati has a child from a previous relationship.

“When we got into a relationship, he was open with me that he has a daughter,” said Marua, adding: “I knew what I was getting myself into when we started dating.”

“The fact that they [Bahati and his ex-lover, Yvette Obura] have a daughter together, it goes without saying that they have to communicate. And, this is simply because it [their communication] is all about [their daughter] Mueni,” she said.
