Kikuyu vernacular singer Dishon Mirugi, whose official name is Paul Mathenge Nderi, is being investigated over the mysterious death of Pastor Elizabeth Wanjiru Githigi.

Dishon has been trending on social media after reports emerged that pastor Elizabeth had died in his house allegedly by suicide.

According to reports, the Nakuru-based preacher visited Dishon in his Nairobi house along Kamiti Road and the musician later reported that he found her hanging in his house.

The musician described the tragic incident as the most trying moment in his life while speaking to Nation Africa.

“I will not go down by the designs of the devil since all that God started in my life will never suffer and will surpass evil designs,” Dishon said.

He added that the issue at hand can only be handled through the “justice that convinces us that God is in control”.

Mystery death

Pastor Elizabeth died at the singer's house after she paid him a visit at his Kahawa West home on Saturday, according to a statement recorded at Kiamumbi police station on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

According to the police statement, Dishon said that the deceased had brought his suit from Nakuru but that when she arrived at his house, she decided to clean both his house and his clothes because they were filthy.

The musician added that he left pastor Elizabeth cleaning and went running errands along Thika Road.

According to the statement, he returned home soon after because he couldn't reach the deceased on her phone after calling her several times.

Dishon claims that he discovered pastor Elizabeth in his wardrobe, appearing to have hung herself with a bedsheet in the wardrbe when he returned home.

In his statement to the police, he said he untied the body and transferred it to his car before driving to the Jacaranda Maternity Home.

According to the police statement, medics at Jacaranda refused to pick up Elizabeth's body because she was already dead.

Dishon then drove to the Kiamumbi police station with the body still in his car, but officers told him to report the incident to Kahawa West.

A police report, which was filed at the Kahawa West Police Station, indicates that Dishon referred to pastor Elizabeth as his ex-girlfriend.

Police officers at Kahawa West police station also refused to pick up pastor Elizabeth's body and instead advised Dishon to report the incident to Kasarani police station.

Officers at Kasarani police station likewise refused to pick up the body saying that he should have reported the discovery immediately.

Dishon was allowed to take the body to the Kenyatta University Mortuary on Saturday evening after shuffling between police stations with the body in his car.

The musician returned to Kasarani police station on Sunday to record a statement about Elizabeth's death, accompanied by DCI homicide detectives who took over the investigations.
