Socialite Corazon Kwamboka has opened up on her struggles with mental health days after admitting that she suffered postpartum depression.

Through her Instagram page, the mother of two shared her experience with depression that saw her spend a few days in the hospital.

Kwamboka noted that the matter was meant to be private but it somehow found its way to the blogs forcing her to publicly talk about it.

"Recently I went through a traumatic experience that saw me in hospital for a couple of days. This matter that was meant to be private somehow found its way into the blogs," she wrote.

Kwamboka, who is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, stated that she is glad that the matter was made public now that she can confidently talk about it and get more people to seek help.

She urged Kenyans to stop joking about depression, stating that anyone can go through it and not all people who come out and talk about it want attention.

"It’s about time we stop this gossip and immaturity and take mental health seriously. When someone tells you they’re going through something stop automatically assuming they want sympathy or attention. Listen to them, take it seriously, you may just save a life," Kwamboka said.

Adding; "I’m here to tell you that depression is not a joke and it’s not the same as feeling sad. It’s literally something that affects your brain, stops you from seeing any good in your life. And if you’re depressed please seek help. Don't give up."
