Ali Kiba sends wife, 24, back to Kenya

Tanzanian musician Ali Kiba says he has sent his wife, Amina Khalef, back to Kenya “so that she can resume work”.

Ali Kiba’s claim comes on the back of an increased online chatter that he and his wife of one year are on the verge of filing for formal separation.

Tanzanian entertainment outlet, “Ijumaa”, reports that Khalef got tired of sharing one house with “very many people” that Ali Kiba is hosting at his Tabata-Chang’ombe house in Dar es Salaam.

Khalef, 24, reportedly told Ali Kiba to choose between solely living with her or with his close relatives, whose “presence in their house was denying the couple their privacy”.

The “Aje” star reportedly declined to send away his kinsmen, sparking fury in Khalef.

It is as a result of that disagreement that Kiba allegedly asked Khalef to ship out “until the day she will be ready to live with his family members”.

The rumour-mill also suggests that Kiba and Khalef were staying with the musician’s mother in the same house, and -- occasionally -- the daughter-in-law and mother-in-law would rub shoulders, sparking tension in the artiste’s house.

It is alleged that Kiba had to send out Khalef in a bid to calm down his mother, who, of late, “had completely fallen out with her daughter-in-law”.

Ali Kiba, however, denies that his marriage has hit rock-bottom.

Speaking recently to Clouds FM during the “Ala za Roho show”, Ali Kiba said: “I have not separated with my wife as people claim online. I just allowed her to go back to Kenya so that she can resume work.”

On claims that his mother is to blame for his marital woes, the 32-year-old artiste said: “My mother is not at the center of our marital wrangles. If anything, it was my mother who reconciled us every other time a dispute between my wife and I arose.

“When she [mother] hears people alleging that she is the reason my wife and I are not in good terms, it affects her health. Kindly, let us respect our parents. When you hear somebody speaking the way online gossip-peddlers are, then you immediately know that they were not brought up well by their parents,” said Ali Kiba.

When “Ijumaa” reached Ali Kiba’s mum for comment in regard to the accusations levelled against her, she said: “Don’t ask me about Ali Kiba and how he runs his family.”

The couple met in 2016 and dated secretly for two years.

Kiba and Khalef welcomed their first child together, a son, in February 2019. Kiba, however, has four other children from previous relationships.

Until her wedding in 2018, the Kongowea-born-bred Amina reportedly worked in the finance department in Mombasa Governor Ali Joho’s administration.

Amina’s mum is a close friend of the county chief.

-Not new to relationship woes-

This is not the first time claims of Kiba falling out with Khalef are surfacing online.

Tanzania’s “Amani” newspaper reported in October, 2017 that Kiba and Amina fell out bitterly over pictures, which surfaced online, showing Ali Kiba enjoying the company of another woman, identified as Carlo, in Mwanza.

A source close to Kiba and Amina told “Amani” newspaper that the singer’s flame often felt insecure every time she would see her lover in the company of other women.

“All is not well between Ali Kiba and Amina. They recently argued bitterly!” the insider intimated in the October, 2017 interview.

“You know Amina stays in Mombasa, and given the distance factor, she feels that the ‘Mwana’ hit-maker could be cheating on her every time she sees a picture of him getting cozy with another woman,” added the source.

“It has since been clarified that Kiba and Carlo have nothing going on between them, but Amina would not hear any of it. She has literally refused to listen to her boyfriend, Ali Kiba.”

Amani reached out to Kiba on phone for comment, but he did not pick up the calls.

When one of Kiba’s managers, who sought anonymity, was reached for comment, he confirmed that Kiba and his lover were undergoing relationship issues, then, but expressed optimism that the couple would iron out their differences.

“When it comes to matters love, issues here and there must arise. It is normal. He (Kiba) and his lover are currently facing problems with their relationship. It is not the first time. Just like previous cases, I believe they will find solutions to their problems,” said Kiba’s manager.
