Award-winning artist Akothee has disclosed she charges over Ksh1 million for shows, events and concerts.

This she says in support of Eric Omondi's sentiments about the Kenyan music industry.

Taking to social media, Akothee faulted Kenyan artists for accepting petty cash in events while their foreign counterparts bag a whole lot of cash on their Kenyan tours and concerts.

"Curtain raising for artistes from outside the country in the name of unapewa platform, mimi na hii zero talent yangu, hunipati kwa ujinga Kaa hizo.. for me I am selling a brand, music tafuteni kwa waimbaji siko huko.

In Kenya if you are a promoter and you don't have Ksh1 million, don't call my manager, for me I am selling a brand," Akothee wrote.

Prior to this, Eric Omondi had made a claim that the music industry has been on its death bed adding that musicians are redundant, predictable and boring.

This saw him become the focus of social media backlash as his sentiments were deemed ‘careless’ and set off the entire music community to demand accountability.

From Bahati to Femi One, Kenyan artists clapped back at Eric to defend their industry and equally threw shade on the self-proclaimed president of comedy.
