After two decades of living together as a couple, Machakos real estate mogul Peter Mutua Kanyi and his sweetheart, Beatrice Bituni, exchanged wedding vows in a colourful ceremony in Machakos Town on Saturday, August 3.
Mutua, 76, and Bituni, 42, -- who previously married at the Registrar of Marriages’ office -- tied the knot in an invite-only function held at their home in Kenya Israel estate in Machakos.
The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Peter Muema of St. Joshua Catholic Church in Machakos.
“Peter, I wish to tell you: from today, sexual intimacy between you will never die. Remember, we don’t marry to have sex. We marry for companionship; sex is just the perfume. Although important, it is not the essence,” Rev. Muema told the newlyweds.
“What brings lack of satisfaction, is the fading of that original love. You have to focus, you have to concentrate like a lion, you have to look where you are going, you do not have to get distractions; all distractions in marriage must be avoided. Continue to enjoy your sexual intimacy, physical presence to each other, emotional care to each other and spiritual intimacy,” advised Rev. Muema.
At least one hundred guests attended Mutua and Bituni’s wedding.

The pair share two daughters aged 21 and 20.
