Businesses in Kenya set to benefit from upcoming Africa-Singapore conference

Business set-ups and companies in Kenya are set for a bigger share of business opportunities as Singapore mulls massive investment plans in Africa.

Singapore, one of Kenya’s biggest investors in Asia, announced at a press conference on Friday intentions to host the Africa-Asia conference to promote business exchange and thought leadership between the two regions.

The conference, dubbed Africa Singapore Business Forum 2021 (ASBF 2021) is expected to take place on a virtual platform on September 23,24 2021.

The conference will bring together over 2,000 business and government leaders from 30 countries with an aim of exploring business partnerships and growth opportunities.

It will seek to address critical issues and identify opportunities in key sectors and areas including digital technology, financing, innovation, manufacturing, sustainability and urban solutions.

According to Enterprise Singapore Nairobi Overseas Centre Regional Director, Linn Neo, Singapore will be seeking to champion enterprise development in Africa, targeting tech, innovation and manufacturing companies among other sectors.

The forum will be presided over by African Development Bank President Dr Akinwumi Adesina, Singapore Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Gateway Partners CEO Viswanathan Shankar among other guests.

Kenya and Singapore have for years enjoyed strong cordial economic ties and the forum will create a platform for the Kenyan startups to tap into the opportunities presented to realise growth.

Currently, Kenyans travelling to Singapore do not require a visa to access the country.
